"Coatham Boating Lake Re-opens for Easter & the Spring Bank Holidays"

Last April the Coalition announced that the Coatham Boating Lake was to close for refurbishment. Although the work is still not complete the Labour Administration decided to re-open the Coatham Boating Lake for the Easter & Spring Bank Holiday periods. We have seen the Coalition in opposition get upset because they say they were not invited to the re-opening of the Coatham Boating Lake but this is not the case.

"Redcar's Coatham enclosure development will unlock Redcar's potential." says Council leader George Dunning

"Coatham Enclosure in Redcar holds the key to unlock Redcar's overwhelming potential. The success of the film Atonement must be built on, and the Coatham development is the perfect way for this to happen. Unfortunately for Redcar the previous Coalition of Liberal Democrats, Conservatives and Independents have delayed the process. Despite warnings from myself and the Local M.P Vera Baird, the Previous Coaltion decided to hold the planning meeting on the enclosure before an election. A High Court Judge upheld the judicial review and now the planning  consent must be resubmitted. We have decided not to appeal against this decision as we warned the Coaltion in 2007 it was wrong to hold a contentious planning meeting before the election. The newly elected Labour Council will fight for Redcar and fight to get this key development for the people of the Borough."
